Paroxetine works as an antidepressant by binding to the serotonin transporter (SERT) to inhibit the reuptake of serotonin. Cryo-EM results from PNCC reveals the mechanism by which paroxetine binds to the substrate binding site of SERT and prevents serotonin transport by stabilizing the outward-open conformation.
